DIY fishing chair with backrest. Homemade fishing chair. How to make a fishing chair with your own hands

Every fisherman knows very well how sometimes you have to sit on the banks of a river or lake for a long time.

Simply sitting on damp ground is very dangerous and harmful to the fisherman's health. Just waiting for a bite while squatting, your legs quickly become numb and often hurt later. Sometimes when fishing you have to wait a long time for the fish to come. To have a better time and relaxation, fishermen came up with a little trick, such as a fishing chair.

A very good device for long-term fishing.

Today, fishing shops have a large selection of chairs of different sizes and modifications. Also, the price of this product is sometimes not particularly pleasing to the fisherman. Some fishing enthusiasts make this device themselves from available materials. Craftsmen mainly use wood and metal tubes as materials.

Materials: Chipboard, furniture edging, hinges, screws.
Tools: jigsaw, screwdriver, iron, marker, ruler, plate.

Then he draws a circle.

Makes the following markings.

The sawn parts are then glued with edging using an iron.

Screws the hinges.

Screws it to another plane.

Checks the folding mechanism.

And now the mechanism works, the chair is unfolded.

The chair is ready and waiting in the wings. Now the fisherman will be able to sit on such a chair while fishing longer.

Any person who has spent a long time winter fishing inevitably begins to think about how to create at least minimal comfort for himself. After all, the important difference between winter fishing is precisely that the fisherman does not need to get up from his seat either when fishing for fish or when changing the bait on the hook.

If you have the right equipment, the only thing left for an ice fisherman to do is set up his workplace well. All elements of equipment used for fishing should be located literally at arm's length from a seated person. This will save him from having to get up often, exposing himself to the cold wind and being distracted from the process of fishing.

The main element of the arrangement is the feeder chair. After all, winter fishing is mainly a passive activity - a person has to sit in one position for a long time. At the same time, the load on the back increases, especially on its lumbar region.

Industrial options for feeder fishing chairs

Important accessories for feeder fishing should be at hand: a bucket with bags of dry and home-prepared bait, a box with bait.Not all fishermen are willing to lay out their catch right on the ice at their feet.

Some people, having removed the fish from the hook, immediately put it in a small plastic container or bag. To do this, the container must also be placed near the seat itself, so that the necessary manipulations with the catch can be performed without getting up.

A seat with a folding attachment table and a body kit necessary for winter fishing makes any handling of fish, hook and bait convenient, minimizes time and effort for all auxiliary procedures, making it possible to concentrate only on the main thing - fishing. Even if something suddenly appears in the fisherman’s field of vision, he will not ignore it, while continuing to fish.

A more reliable option for storing individual accessories is in special pockets made in the seat upholstery. This is guaranteed to prevent a sudden gust of wind from blowing away the bait or bait.

In addition, putting all the necessary accessories into the seat pockets and removing all the necessary accessories from there is much more convenient than constantly bending low when everything is laid out on the ice. You can choose any other design of niches and pockets for accessories in the chair, taking into account your individual priorities.

Characteristics of the chair

The features of any element of a winter fisherman's equipment are akin to a traveler's equipment - in size it must be designed to be carried in a backpack or suitcase, quickly disassembled and folded, lightweight, and easy to use.

It would not be at all superfluous if its covering at least partially protects the rider from the cold winter wind - not every fisherman pitches a tent over the hole.

The feeder fisherman's chair should:

  • be stable on ice;
  • sit securely even on uneven surfaces;
  • Additionally, have support for the back, since it is this part of the body that becomes numb when sitting for a long time over the hole in a monotonous position.

If the backrest reclines, the upper body support allows the person to assume a comfortable waddle position. A backrest-supported seat will certainly provide the fisherman with the opportunity to get the pleasure for which he leaves the cozy house in winter in any weather. It wouldn’t be out of place to mention your health, which, while fishing without minimal amenities, can cause damage, albeit small.

DIY feeder chair. Part 1

Having seen it one day at a neighbor's place on the ice, an ice fishing enthusiast becomes eager to have his own comfortable feeder chair. But the cost of even the simplest seats for winter fishing in ruble terms is now so substantial (from 7,000 rubles without body kit!) that if a person does not have a significant amount of free money, it is impossible to justify the purchase by any catches or desire for convenience.

Tools in your hands

It is quite possible to get a comfortable and reliable seat for feeder fishing without breaking another hole in the family budget - you can make it yourself at home. To perform this work, no special skills of a locksmith or a master of sewing on a sewing machine are required.

Everything can be done by a person with average abilities to design and make something; all he needs to do is be determined and stubborn.

After the design of the feeder chair has been thought out, the necessary sketches and outlines have been made, it is necessary to calculate the amount of materials.

If the dimensions of the product are approximately one and a half meters in height and half a meter in width, then you will need materials that can partly be bought in a store, and partly found at home.

It is difficult to choose a more suitable material for the frame of a future chair than a profile pipe. The main advantages of this material:

  • cheapness;
  • high strength;
  • weldability;
  • ease of machining.

Necessary materials

Materials from which most homemade feeder chairs of simple designs are made:

  • pieces of plywood 8 mm thick;
  • steel pipes with a diameter of 20-25 mm with walls whose thickness is not less than 1.5 mm, cutting elements from these pipes for one chair will be: 55 cm - 4 pieces, 70 cm - 2 pieces, 30 cm - 1 piece;
  • pieces of fabric with foam padding for covering the seat and back: 800×400 mm - 1 piece; 700×400 mm - 1 piece;
  • bolts with nuts and wings of various lengths for assembling legs, seat and back;
  • furniture bolts for connecting the seat to the back;
  • steel plate for thrust bearings 3 mm thick;
  • staples for a construction stapler 6 mm;
  • primer and dye for processing the chair frame - in the minimum amount available on the sales counter.

For the feeder, the size of the seat-chair of the universal version is almost the same - 1.5 × 0.5 m. The given quantities and sizes of elements are based on a simple version without side armrests and an additional shelf for the legs.

If the craftsman considers these elements of the chair to be useful, then he will additionally need the materials of the listed nomenclature, but in a different quantity. Drawings of do-it-yourself corrugated pipe seats can be found in abundance on fishing equipment websites.

Foldable design

One of the most successful designs is a feeder chair with insulated foam upholstery. To stick foam rubber onto plywood, you will need titanium glue, and it is more convenient to prime and paint the finished frame using spray cans. It is better to choose a matte black paint color.

An important detail is that the chair for winter fishing must be foldable, since it will constantly have to be transported, carried, moved every time you go fishing.

It is permissible to make all frame elements from a round aluminum pipe of sufficient strength, in which case the chair will be much lighter. But welding aluminum at home is problematic.

Popular search queries for video clips on the Internet are: “Do-it-yourself feeder chair”, “Make your own feeder chair”, “Chair for a winter feeder”.

DIY feeder chair. Part 2

Even when the chair is ready, it is comfortable and the fisherman has sat in it enough at home, it is too early to take it fishing. For greater convenience, you need a specific kit for winter fishing.

These are additional accessories to the seat in the form of pockets for bait and bait, stands for the rod, a folding table for a thermos with tea and manipulations with the feeder and hooks. Only when everything is complete will the chair begin to “work off” the costs of its construction.

DIY body kit

Prices for feeder chair body kit elements on sale are steep.Buying the entire body kit as a set will be no cheaper than the chair itself.

Types of body kit include:

  • rod stands;
  • folding table with drawers for baits and groundbaits;
  • special hanging bucket for bait mixture;
  • pocket for thermos.

All these elements are not so complex that a person who made a chair with his own hands would buy them in a store. With such equipment, the fishing process is simplified.

Become a mechanic

Seeing the cost of branded body kit elements, the fisherman will only strengthen his desire to continue his plumbing activities. To make your own fishing seat kit, you will need the following materials:

  • aluminum tube F 25 mm long 300 cm;
  • fitting elements with which plastic pipes will be attached to the frame of the chair - 6 pcs.;
  • pen for drilling plastic and wood F 26 mm;
  • fastening elements for pipe blanks;
  • drive-in nuts for furniture fittings may be useful;
  • M8 threaded bolts;
  • lightweight but durable plastic box;
  • plastic clips for fixing pipe blanks.

The materials listed in the list do not cost a lot of money, especially since in many homes where furniture or plumbing is often repaired, they may be in abundance. From here the spare parts of the chair are then formed in case of breakdown.

We manufacture the body kit in the following order:

  1. We drill out the inner diameter of the tees to the diagonal size of the corrugated pipes of the chair legs.
  2. In the body of each tee, using a soldering iron, we fix a nut into which the M8 fastening bolt will be screwed.
  3. We drill holes in the legs. into which the mounting bolts will fit freely.
  4. We install tees and fasten them to the pipes with bolts.
  5. For each type of armchair body kit we make our own frame, which will allow you to install it on the side of the legs.
  6. We attach the bait box to the legs with clips that securely compress the corrugated pipe.

Attaching body kit elements to the feeder chair

To make a mount for fishing rods, it is enough to make a side branch from any chair leg. We also make a suspension for the bucket of food - we drill holes in the bucket for the clips and securely fix it.

Additional accessories

In addition to a luxurious chair with the necessary body kit, an ice fisherman will need various additional equipment. The main ones can be listed:

  • drill for drilling holes;
  • a sieve for scooping out ice crumbs from the holes;
  • grip for large fish.

In different conditions of each specific fishing, the set of additional devices is different, and only the fisherman knows what he will need that day on a given body of water. It is convenient to transport all devices in a special box, which is convenient to carry along with the chair and gear.

Do-it-yourself bait table for feeder fishing

You need to take special care of the bait table, because it can not only make fishing easier, but also be very useful when relaxing outdoors. You can place bait, accessories, flavors, bait, and other equipment on it.

When all this is at hand, auxiliary time is reduced, fishing opportunities and efficiency increase. It does not necessarily have to be easily and quickly attached to the feeder chair; a separate attachment table is quite suitable on ice.

Types of homemade bait tables for feeder fishing:

  • according to frame material: metal or PVC;
  • according to the material of the tabletop: plastic or laminated plywood;
  • according to design features: non-separable tables or a table with removable legs.

It is better to take a pipe and use it to make a frame for attaching the tray. The tray is attached to the frame with self-tapping screws, and the legs of the required length are welded or soldered.

A shelf table is more suitable for a feeder. If each tray is mounted on its own frame with short legs, then it will be possible to place the sections one on top of the other and in this way build a table of the required size and capacity.

A convenient plastic table with leg extensions, made from plumbing pipe elements, is convenient. In addition to being light and easy to transport, such a feeding table is easy to clean from frozen food residues, wash, and store on a shelf in the home utility room. But the table can also be folding, with one tray.

The main activity when fishing is waiting for a bite. And doing this is much more convenient and enjoyable while sitting on a fishing chair you assembled with your own hands. There are more than enough drawings of them on the relevant resources, and the variety of types allows you to choose the most suitable option that matches your own preferences.

Features of fishing chairs

You can assemble various models with your own hands using various materials. But their main characteristics remain unchanged. Among the qualities that chairs must have are the following:

  • Sustainability. The chair must be stable regardless of the topography of the coastal strip.
  • Strength. The design must withstand the weight of the fisherman, and not break after the first use.
  • Small size and weight. Stowing a bulky and heavy chair even in a personal car can be problematic. And in cases where a certain distance needs to be walked, any person strives to lighten his burden. And a heavy or large chair is unacceptable in such a situation.

Since you plan to assemble a fishing chair with your own hands, its design should be simple. Therefore, it is better to give preference to simple schemes that everyone can assemble.

Design options

Before deciding how to make a fishing chair with your own hands, you need to decide what type it should be.

The simplest option is a stool. These are the lightest and most compact models that are easy to carry. And their manufacturing technology is simpler than other options.

A fishing chair with a back will be more comfortable. Assembling it with your own hands is a little more difficult than the previous version. However, it will allow you to relax your back when sitting for a long time, which is also important for any fisherman.

The most comfortable option is a chair that has both a back and armrests. Sitting on it, the fisherman will not experience muscle tension. True, such models have a lot of weight. But if you drive a personal car to the fishing spot, this is not a problem. One of the modifications of this model can be considered a folding chair. You can even lie down on it.

Experienced fishermen often prefer a box chair. You can sit on top of it. And inside it has storage space where you can hide equipment, tools or catch. This option is reminiscent of a home cabinet. Only on top does it have a seat. In order not to get up every time you need to look at the contents of the box, the box can be organized in the form of a retractable drawer.

Materials used

You can assemble a fishing chair with your own hands using various materials. The use of available raw materials will significantly reduce the cost of all work.

You can often find wooden chairs. Wooden blocks of various sizes are used both for making the frame and for preparing the seat, back and other elements.

Metal pipes are widely used as supports. They can be combined with wooden or fabric seats. Pieces of tarpaulin, leather and other durable fabrics are used to cut out the seat. There are also plastic elements. This is a durable yet lightweight material, ideal for making fishing chairs.

The structures are assembled with your own hands using fasteners. The base is assembled, as a rule, using self-tapping screws, bolts, screws, and staples.

Stool on four plastic supports

Self-assembled folding fishing chairs in the shape of a stool are very convenient to use. The base in them is made of plastic pipes. A piece of dense, durable fabric is used as a seat.

The first step is to prepare the blanks. 8 parts are cut from a plastic pipe. The pieces that will serve as support should be about 50-60 cm in length. You will need 4 such pieces. Another 4 pieces will be required, 35-40 cm long. Two of them will go to the lower jumpers between the legs. They will allow you to obtain a more reliable and stable structure. And two will organize the seat.

Long pieces are connected in pairs. Each pair is fastened with a bolt twisted in the middle. You should get two cross-shaped parts. They are connected to each other at the edges by short elements. It should be a sliding structure. The ease of folding (unfolding) is regulated by the tension of the bolts.

The upper short jumpers are connected to each other with a piece of fabric (for example, tarpaulin). It should be a seat. A narrower strip of fabric is stretched between the lower pair of jumpers. It will act as a limiter that will prevent the chair from folding.

Folding chair with metal supports

You can also make your own folding fishing chairs with metal legs. Their design is similar to the previous version. The only difference is the use of aluminum (or steel) pipes. It is worth noting that this option will have more weight than one made from a plastic pipe. But at the same time, its reliability will be higher.

The manufacturing process itself is similar. Blanks can be taken in the same sizes. The only difference is the way the individual elements are attached to each other. Metal will be a little more difficult to work with. If you have the tools, most connections can be made welded. Only at the intersection of the legs must there be bolts. Otherwise the chair will not fold.

Wooden chair on four legs

This is another option that will help you assemble a folding fishing chair with your own hands. Drawings prepared in advance will allow you to determine the dimensions of the structure and the required amount of materials.

4 blanks are prepared from wooden blocks, which will serve as supports. The two parts are connected to each other by a bolt twisted in the middle of the legs. You should end up with two blanks that are somewhat reminiscent of scissors. The blanks are connected to each other using wooden planks. They will serve as a seat. They can be replaced with fabric.

Jumpers are made from below in the form of wooden crossbars. They will prevent the chair from falling apart.

Wooden four-legged stool with backrest

Similar to the previous option, you can make your own folding fishing chair with a backrest. To do this, you will need to slightly change the design. For this you will need the following materials:

  • Wooden supports (2 pcs.) 91 cm long.
  • Wooden supports (2 pcs.) 55 cm long.
  • for seat length 31.5 cm.
  • Six boards of different sizes for the seat (40x7, 39x4, 36.5x4, 36.5x4, 31x4, 30x4).
  • Wooden back (40x0.7 cm).
  • Crossbars for connecting bars (1 piece measuring 39x5 cm and 2 pieces measuring 32x3 cm).

They begin work by preparing the supports. Holes for bolts are made along their outer part. On the inside, grooves are made along the slats, 1.1 cm long and deep. The supports are connected by crossbars. The joints are coated with glue.

To make it more comfortable to sit on a chair, a bevel is made above the bunch of long supports. The boards on the seat are connected to the bars using dowels and screws.

three legged stool

There are options for chairs that have only 3 legs for support. There are also drawings for similar models. A do-it-yourself folding chair for fishing, assembled at minimal cost, will appeal to many. Yes, and it’s easy to make. The following materials will be required:

  • 3 legs about 60 cm long (they are made from wooden blocks with a round cross-section).
  • A piece of fabric in the shape of a triangle (for example, thick leather).
  • Fixing bolt with loop.
  • Long mounting bolt.
  • Washers (3 pcs. fastening and 3 pcs. finishing).
  • Nuts (2 pcs.).

A hole is drilled in the middle of the cut bars. The same holes are made on the upper cuts of the bars. They will be needed to attach the fabric to the seat. Holes are pierced under them in the corners of the fabric.

The two legs are connected by a long bolt. A bolt with a loop must be placed on the bolt between the legs. With its help the third leg will be secured.

Fabric is screwed to the upper sections of the legs using decorative washers. Next, a fabric strip is attached, which will make it convenient to carry the chair.

This version of the chair is very light and compact. Unfolds (assembles) without any effort. And the strap will allow you to carry it comfortably. Materials for its manufacture are available. The only negative is convenience. Three legs do not provide the desired stability. And the small seat does not allow you to completely relax. And the service life is in question. The fabric quickly begins to tear in the corners.

Conclusion

As you can see, it’s easy to make a fishing chair with your own hands. Having chosen the model you like, you can begin preparing the drawing. It is used to calculate the required materials and dimensions of the required parts. And then all the elements are connected together.

The choice of model and materials depends on several basic parameters. The main ones can be considered ease of manufacture, convenience and comfort during operation, size and weight. Their combination depends on If you go fishing by car, then you can choose comfort and neglect light weight. If you prefer to walk, then it is better to choose lighter and more compact models.

Fans of fishing know that enjoying this process will be much more enjoyable if you take special equipment with you to the pond. The feeder chair serves exactly this purpose - creating a more comfortable environment. There are many options for such chairs in stores, many of them are quite expensive. To save your family budget, you can make a feeder chair with your own hands that fully meets the fisherman’s requirements. This is not difficult to do, you just need to prepare the necessary tools and carefully measure all the parts.

A chair for feeder fishing can be made in the form of a simple stool. For greater comfort, it is worth building it more complex: with a back, armrests and a body kit. For a chair to be comfortable to use, it must meet the following requirements:

  1. Compact design - the chair should easily fit into a backpack when going fishing.
  2. Lightweight, which is important for carrying over long distances.
  3. Strength, which affects the ability to support the weight of the fisherman.
  4. Stability on any surface, since the banks of reservoirs are not perfectly smooth. The safety of the fisherman depends on this.

The legs of a chair for winter fishing should not be thin so as not to be pressed into soft ground or snow under the weight of a person. Another advantage of the feeder chair can be the adjustable back and legs, which allows you to change the height of the backrest and, in a sitting position, relieve tension from the back that arises from being in one position for a long time.

Varieties of design

There are several types of do-it-yourself fishing chair, which is determined by its design features:

  1. Folding chair - consists of a seat and backrest connected by a hinge.
  2. Armchair with backrest. Models of this design are either solid or folding. A folding fishing chair is more mobile and can easily fit in a backpack, while a solid product is considered more durable.
  3. Lounge chair. Chairs of this design, in turn, are divided into prefabricated, solid, and folding.
  4. Armchair with shelves. The main feature of the model is special devices for placing gear and other fishing accessories on it.

The easiest option to make with your own hands is a folding bed; it can be made from any materials with the least amount of money and time; a lounge chair is a more complex design.

When choosing a device, you should take into account your strengths and, if you do not have skills in making feeder chairs, start assembling with the simplest variety.

Manufacturing materials

The main materials for assembling a feeder chair with your own hands are the following:

  1. Wood or chipboard. Wooden products must be impregnated with special agents that increase moisture resistance, otherwise the chair will not last long and will quickly begin to rot under the influence of water.
  2. Steel. A chair made of this material is the most durable, provided that it has been treated with an anti-corrosion compound, since rust will appear on the metal over time when exposed to moisture. To make a fishing chair from steel, you will need a more complex tool.
  3. Polypropylene pipes. Material that does not require special processing. Stools made from it are quite strong and durable. Assembly is easy; simple tools are required.
  4. Textile material. For the manufacture of seats and backs, it is better to choose more wear-resistant textiles, for example, tarpaulin, which will not tear upon first use.

When making a chair for feeder fishing, it is not recommended to choose plastic or aluminum - such materials are quite fragile and unreliable. The product will not last long, especially if such chairs are used by people with a large weight.

How to make a drawing

The first step in creating a fishing chair with your own hands is to complete the drawing. There is a diagram of any chair on the Internet. As a rule, these are drawings of simple structures. More advanced models with additional devices can be drawn with your own hands. Another way to make a drawing is with computer programs.

When choosing the dimensions of a feeder chair - seat width, height of legs and backrest - you should take into account the build of the fisherman who will use it. This will help make your fishing stay more comfortable. For a fisherman of average build, the optimal parameters are considered to be 1.5 x 0.5 m.

If, when making a fishing chair with your own hands, the drawings do not match the width and height parameters, you can safely change them to those that will be optimal.

Manufacturing stages

Taking into account your own skills in making products from different materials, as well as personal wishes, you can build your own chairs for feeder fishing of varying complexity.

Simple model

To make the simplest model of a feeder chair, you will need three interlocking metal pipes with a diameter of 20 mm, material for the seat and back, strong threads, 4 bolts and nuts. Necessary tools: electric drill, hacksaw, grinder. Manufacturing technology:

  1. The short sides of the seat are stitched with two wide strips and secured at the bottom with a limiter made of a thin strip. In this case, the fabric is sewn directly onto 2 metal pipes, which will serve as the legs of the chair. The material on the back is also stitched along the short sides.
  2. At the junction of the legs, holes are drilled in the middle of the long sides and connected crosswise to the fasteners.
  3. A pipe is attached to one of the legs, which will serve as a backrest.

It is worth considering that in this design the backrest does not fold.

With adjustable legs and backrest

A chair with a back is a complicated version of a feeder chair. Material required to assemble such a chair: steel pipe for the frame with a diameter of 20 mm, fastenings (bolts, nuts), textiles for the seat and back, threads, rubber nozzles for the legs, anti-corrosion compound. The tools used are the same as for the simple model. Assembly algorithm:

  1. The metal pipe is cut into several parts: for the legs and seat - 8 pieces of 55 cm, for the back - two pieces of 70 cm, one piece - 30 cm.
  2. On two pipes, which are intended for sitting, two fasteners are installed at a distance of 6 cm from the beginning and end.
  3. Another fastener is attached to one of these pipes, with which the back will be mounted. The fastener is located at a distance of 9 cm from the beginning of the pipe.
  4. To complete the manufacture of the chair frame, the prepared corrugated pipes with fasteners are connected by two more pipes. Thus, 4 metal pieces measuring 55 cm were used.
  5. Pipes measuring 70 cm prepared for the backrest are connected to a pipe 30 cm long using fasteners.
  6. The remaining four 55 cm pieces, which will serve as legs, are attached to the ends of the frame tubes. They are equipped with rubber nozzles.
  7. At the last stage of making the chair, textiles are stretched over the seat and back. Holes are made on the short sides of the tarpaulin, and the material is pulled together using an elastic band. The elastic will allow the seat to sag a little under the weight of the angler. The back textile is pulled together along the long sides.

The described design will allow you to adjust the legs in height, which will make the chair more convenient to use.

Made from polypropylene pipes

A simple option for making a feeder chair, for which you will need: PVC pipes with a diameter of 25-32 mm, fittings connecting the parts of the chair, durable textiles for the seat, fasteners, threads. Tools for assembly: pipe cutting scissors or a hacksaw, soldering iron. A guide on how to make a fishing chair from polypropylene pipes with your own hands:

  1. The tube is cut into pieces: 16 parts for the back, legs, and seat, the length of which you can choose yourself.
  2. We connect the pipe sections with fittings. For convenience, assembly should begin from the back, then the seat and handles are fastened together.
  3. For the seat and back, take material that is stitched along the short sides with holes for inserting pipes.
  4. After checking the structure for stability, it is disassembled, the material is stretched onto the appropriate sections of pipes.
  5. At the final stage of assembly, the parts are soldered or secured with glue.

The result is a homemade chair with armrests that will be quite stable on any surface. It is worth noting that the back of such a design does not move, its position remains unchanged.

Folding chair

To assemble a folding chair, you will need a polypropylene pipe with a diameter of 25 mm, fittings, material for the seat, threads, 2 bolts, 2 nuts. Guide on how to make a folding chair:

  1. The fabric is cut to a size of 18 cm. It is stitched along the short sides so as to create holes into which the pipes will be inserted.
  2. The pipe is cut into pieces: 4 pieces of 40 cm and 4 pieces of 20 cm.
  3. Long pipes have holes drilled in the middle for bolting.
  4. Short 20 cm sections of pipe are inserted into the prepared fabric. Corners are put on the ends.
  5. 2 rectangles are formed from all pipe sections measuring 20 x 40 cm. They must be connected with fabric.
  6. The rectangles are connected to each other with bolts and nuts in the drilled places. It is not recommended to tighten the nuts too tightly so that the chair folds effortlessly.

For structural strength, glue or welding can be used in the places where the fittings are attached. This folding fishing chair will serve for a long time thanks to the material from which it is made, it will be easy to carry, and the chair will not take up much space in your backpack.

  • When making the legs, seat or back of a chair from wood, the surface must be coated with an antiseptic, primer and paint composition. This will significantly increase the resistance of the material to water and also extend the life of the chair.
  • Proper care is an important condition for the long service life of the feeder chair. After each use, the chair must be put in order: remove any adhering soil, wipe it dry. It is advisable to store the fishing chair in a specially designated place where it will not disturb anyone and will be protected from moisture.

    A chair made of metal pipes should be treated with an anti-corrosion compound.

    When making parts from wood, cover the surface with an antiseptic, primer and paint composition.

    Additional accessories

    The simplest model of fishing chair is a stool. Some fishermen consider armrests unnecessary, as they can restrict movement. Store-bought products often have body kits - additional devices that make fishing easier. It’s convenient when everything you need is at hand and you don’t have to bend down to the ground to get bait or tackle. You can also build such devices with your own hands, adding them to a fishing chair.

    Materials required to make the body kit:

    • aluminum pipe with a diameter of 25 mm;
    • fittings - tees and angles, 4 pieces each;
    • pipe fasteners;
    • nuts and bolts;
    • plastic box or tabletop;
    • plastic clips for securing the pipe.

    Required tool:

    • electric drill;
    • soldering iron;
    • hacksaw for metal;
    • drill.

    Manufacturing technology:

    1. The holes in the fittings are drilled out to 26 mm so that they can be attached to the legs of the chair.
    2. The nut is fixed in the plastic tee so that the bolt holds the aluminum pipe in the fitting. A hole with a diameter of 8 mm is drilled in the tee, in which the bolt is installed.
    3. To obtain a clamp for fixing the pipe inside, the nut is heated with a soldering iron and pressed inside the tee.
    4. To fasten parts of the body kit, which are required occasionally when fishing, additional holes can be drilled in the corner where the bolt and nut are placed. It is recommended to place a washer under the nut to prevent deformation of the metal tubes.
    5. The mount for hanging a box or attachment table is made in the form of a pipe placed on the side of the chair, running parallel. From the central support in the middle, an additional pipe is led to the side in the shape of the letter “T” with a leg in the ground. The table is attached with clips screwed to the bottom.

    Each fisherman has a chair on which he sits near a pond and catches fish, and also admires nature when there is no bite. You can do without a chair, but it won’t be the same fishing. Fishing is, first of all, recreation, as a result of which a person accumulates energy for the future. If you fish on a chair, you can easily last a whole day. If you spend the whole day fishing on your feet, then a person gets tired quickly. Of course, if you take spinners, then they don’t need a chair, since they move around a lot throughout the entire fishing period, in search of predatory fish. For lovers of classic fishing, using a regular fishing rod or feeder, a chair is a must.

    You can buy it in a store or make it yourself, especially since it is not at all difficult. This is exactly what this article is about.

    There are many options for making your own fishing chair. As a rule, most fishermen opt for a simple model that has minimal weight and takes up a minimum of free space. Many people believe that a chair is necessary to facilitate the fishing process, making it more comfortable. A higher level of comfort requires a more serious design, which is unlikely to be light and will take up a lot of space. In some cases, this is not of fundamental importance if there is something to transport fishing gear and other accessories.

    The following designs may be most useful for fishing:

    Many anglers take similar structures with them if fishing is planned for a long period. Everyone knows that fish bite is not regular and it takes breaks, especially during the day. When there is no bite, you can lie down, only occasionally looking at the bite indicator. If you install an electronic indicator, you will never miss the moment of a bite. Naturally, a lounge chair is not a simple design, it is not light, and it takes up a lot of space during transportation.

    This is quite a useful thing, because it allows you to relax your back, which is important, especially for older anglers. The armchair chair can be used in other cases. These models are taken with them when they go fishing for several days, for example, on a weekend.

    This design has a number of advantages compared to other models, since you can not only sit on it, but also store fishing equipment, as well as caught fish. The box chair is not in particular demand among summer fishing enthusiasts, but winter fishing enthusiasts appreciate the advantages of this model. Most winter fishing enthusiasts have such a box chair in their arsenal, since it is an irreplaceable thing.

    Naturally, such a chair does not have the necessary level of comfort, but it has a number of advantages. Firstly, it is lightweight as it is made from lightweight materials. Secondly, it takes up little space and can be transported even on a bicycle, which cannot be said about other designs. There are claims that sitting on such a chair is as comfortable as sitting on the ground or on a stump. Firstly, it is unlikely that you will be able to find a stump of the required height in the place where you are fishing, and secondly, sitting on the ground near a reservoir may not pass without a trace, especially since you have to sit for a long time. In addition, such a folding chair is not difficult to make yourself. Moreover, it will take a little money and time.

    Quality and structure of the fishing chair

    The quality of a fishing chair depends on many factors, including its design. In the manufacture of such accessories, lightweight materials are used that are not very durable. Other materials, although durable, have a significant weight. In addition, manufacturing requires a special tool.

    As a rule, the design of a fishing chair comes down to the fact that the structure is transformed from a working position to a transport one. This approach allows you to reduce the usable space occupied by the product. Since it contains moving elements, the reliability of the structure is significantly reduced. Therefore, the design should be simple and have a minimum of moving joints.

    Before you start making a fishing chair, you should carefully calculate everything, and most importantly, decide on its structure. In addition, you must have basic skills in working with various materials and tools.

    • Folding chair, as a rule, consists of 2 planes connected by hinges, as well as a device that regulates the angle of the backrest. Basically, the seat and backrest are made in the form of a frame, made of light metal, on which fabric is stretched, according to the principle of the well-known folding bed. By the way, if you try, you can make a fishing chair from an old folding bed at a minimum cost.
    • . The simplest design consists of a cabinet of a certain height (about 40 cm), on top of which a soft seat is mounted. It also serves as the top cover of the cabinet and has the ability to open. Fishing accessories and fish are stored inside the cabinet.

    • Chair with back and armrests. It can be made either folding or solid, but a minibus is needed to transport it, since it will not fit in a regular car. The one-piece version is highly reliable, but you have to pay for it with useful space. The most suitable option is a folding chair. To make such a chair you will have to work hard. For the manufacture of such a structure, lightweight materials should also be used, but with acceptable strength.
    • . The most complex design, the manufacture of which will require a lot of personal time and money. In this case, you will also have to give preference to the folding option. In any case, this is the most suitable option. Its operating principle is similar to a folding chair. It can also be made from 2 folding parts. The only difference is that the parts are made, for example, from plywood and upholstered with soft material. Therefore, this design may take up more space, but it is somewhat more reliable.

    The main materials for making a fishing chair are wood, plywood and chipboard. The use of metal is limited by the availability of special tools. Firstly, you will need a welding machine, which not everyone can handle. Many people argue that aluminum is not suitable because it is too soft. This statement is wrong. Many people still remember the Soviet folding bed, on which many rested at home or in the country. Its frame is made of aluminum. Despite this, the folding bed served for years. Therefore, anyone who has the opportunity to use an aluminum or duralumin pipe with a diameter of about 2 centimeters can safely use it. At the same time, the result will be a lightweight and mobile structure, which is also resistant to atmospheric conditions. As for other materials, they will have to be protected from moisture.

    You will also need durable fabric or artificial leather for upholstery. For moving joints you will have to stock up on bolts, washers and nuts, and possibly other parts. It all depends on personal preferences, as well as the nature of the design.

    It's time to move from description to practice in making the 3 types of chairs described above.

    General approaches

    All types of chairs, regardless of design, consist of similar components. Therefore, some manufacturing stages will be similar.

    First of all, what needs to be done is to decide on the design of the future chair and create a drawing of it, according to the drawn sketch. In this case, the drawing must indicate its main dimensions, as well as the dimensions of the component parts, separately.

    All the main parts must be listed and a list is made based on them. For example:

    • Legs - 2 pcs.
    • Back with legs.
    • High chair.
    • 4 bolts, etc.

    If you look at the drawing, you can determine the complete availability of all the materials that are necessary for the manufacture of the structure.

    Everyone went to school and remembers their descriptive geometry lessons very well. Therefore, there should not be any special problems in drawing such a simple drawing. If something doesn’t work out, you can not draw a real drawing, but limit yourself to ordinary drawings of parts by hand, indicating their real dimensions.

    A drawing or drawing involves drawing the product from three sides - front, side and top. Side and top views are called projections. The main image is considered to be the front view, while the side view is located to the right of the main image, and the top view is located below the main image. At the same time, the side view and top view should not extend beyond the dimensions of the front view. This can be considered a perfectly executed drawing.

    At the same time, it should be noted that the time of graph paper and Whatman paper is gone. Nowadays, they have been replaced by computers with special programs installed on them to automate the design process, including the stage of creating working drawings. Unfortunately, learning how to create drawings on a computer requires experience. Therefore, you shouldn’t bother with such a simple design, since you can get by with a regular hand drawing.

    Calculations

    In order not to get confused in the drawings, it is necessary to indicate the actual dimensions of all parts.

    After all the dimensions have been determined and all the materials have been prepared, you can proceed to the main stage - putting the idea into practice. To do this, you need to go to a workshop, which can be a balcony, barn or garage, where all the tools and materials are stored.

    To make it, you need to take a couple of wooden beams and drill one hole in the center in each of them. After this, the beams are connected in an “X” shape using bolts.

    The same is done with another pair of bars. Finally, the two X's are joined together and the chair is then upholstered in faux leather. To make it last a long time, it should be coated with two layers of water-repellent varnish. That's it, the chair is ready for use. But this will not be a folding chair, which will not take up very much useful space. Folding chairs are made using the same scheme, but it is better to use metal.

    There are chairs of this type. Unfortunately, they are used very rarely, since this design is not very stable.

    Making such a chair can take up much more useful time and require more effort.

    Manufacturing technology:

    First of all, the backrest with legs is assembled, and then the second pair of legs along with the seat. Before assembly, you need to check that all dimensions match, after which you can start drilling holes for connections. The legs are connected in the same way as in the first case, with the letter “X”. Bolts are used for connection. The holes for the bolts should be drilled to a slightly larger diameter so that they fit freely. The seat is connected to the front. The seat is not attached rigidly to the backrest, but on hinges to create a folding structure. If desired, armrests can be attached to the seat. At the same time, you need to take into account that the design is folding and the armrests can get in the way.

    As mentioned above, a box chair consists of a cabinet with an opening top that serves as a seat. This design is made from lightweight materials such as plywood or aluminum. The upper part of the cabinet is covered with artificial leather using foam rubber. The foam is laid first, and then it is covered with artificial upholstery. It not only makes the chair soft, but also makes the sitting warm. This is especially true in winter.

    The manufacture of such a structure will require real engineering knowledge, since the product is characterized by the presence of a large number of connections, including moving elements.

    The chair turns into a lounger (bed) due to a special mechanism. To implement such an idea, it is necessary to move the centers of the holes in the scissors closer to the edge, after which special grooves are cut out. A special frame is then made and bolted to the backrest. After this, they begin to make the seat. It can be made either solid from wood or from fabric.

    Many fishermen practice making various accessories with their own hands. Firstly, it is interesting, and secondly, this approach allows you to save significant money. If you buy a chair for a fisherman, even the simplest one, you will have to part with a certain amount of money, and a considerable one.

    But if you have extra funds, and do not have the desire or skills to make at least a basic product with your own hands, then you can go to a fishing store and buy any chair you like. As a rule, the store always has a wide range of similar products that can satisfy any category of consumer. Here you can buy both a simple folding chair and an armchair with armrests: if only you had the money.
